Dodge Caravan Safety

Unwavering dedication to your safety is just one of the reasons the Dodge Grand Caravan has been Canada's best-selling minivan for over 30 years. It's been engineered for safety from the inside out – from its high-strength unibody construction to rain-sensitive wipers and automatic headlamps. The available Safety Sphere Group features Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-path Detection System, because the ultimate in safety is identifying potential hazards before they happen.

Safety Sphere

Safety Sphere

Available on Grand Caravan Crew, Crew Plus and R/T, the Safety Sphere Group combines advanced safety and technology features into one comprehensive package. It includes:

  • Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-path Detection
  • Park-Sense® Rear Park Assist System
  • Rain-sensitive wipers and automatic headlamps

Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-path Detection

Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-path Detection

While you're driving forward, the available Blind-spot Monitoring System continually watches blind zones on either side of the vehicle. When an object is detected, an indicator light illuminates in the appropriate exterior mirror, with an optional audible notification. Rear Cross-path Detection is activated when the vehicle is in reverse, monitoring for objects approaching from either side and sounding an audible alarm if an object is detected.

Active Front Head Restraints

Active Front Head Restraints

In the event of a rear-end collision, the active front head restraints move forward and upward, decreasing the space between the head restraint and occupant's head, reducing the chance of injury.

Parkview Rear Back-up Camera

Parkview Rear Back-up Camera

It's like having eyes in the back of your head. The ParkView® Rear Back-up Camera is positioned in the tailgate and activates automatically when the vehicle is shifted into Reverse. The camera image is displayed on the touch screen, giving you a clear rear view.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC helps maintain vehicle stability by detecting loss of steering control. When such a situation occurs, ESC automatically applies the brakes to assist the driver in maintaining directional control. Brake assist helps apply maximum braking force when a panic situation is detected. ESC also includes Trailer Sway Damping for added stability when towing. Standard on all models.

Antilock Brakes (ABS)

Antilock Brakes (ABS)

Standard on all models, 4-wheel disc antilock brakes monitor wheel speed and automatically modulate brake pressure during hard braking, preventing wheel lockup and improving steering control under extreme braking and/or slippery conditions.

7 Standard Air Bags

7 Standard Air Bags

Standard side-curtain air bags blanket outboard positions in all 3 rows of seating, while front-seat-mounted side air bags provide enhanced protection for the driver and front passenger. The driver's knee blocker air bag helps reduce injury by positioning the driver relative to the front air bag.

Unibody Construction

Unibody Construction

Strong and lightweight, Grand Caravan is formed by welding high-strength steel sheet metal stampings into a single structure, resulting in a stiff body structure and torsional rigidity. This means better impact protection, smoother ride and handling characteristics, and less interior noise.
